Weekly Challenge #297

Greetings Fellow Tanglers!

The challenge at I am the diva last week, (yes, I am late) was to choose one of the past challenges to use. My congratulations to Laura, for a wonderful 6 years of challenges. I picked the gift of Zentangles, and these are the stars I have done so far that are going out to friends and family.

I have also been busy with Zentangle HQ’s 12 days of 3Zs. Here are days 6-12. If you want to see days 1-5 see the blog post here.

On the sixth day of 3Zs
Bijou handed me
Swirling molygon-ings . . .

On the seventh day of 3Zs
Bijou offered me
Dark and naughty knightsbridge . . .

On the eighth day of 3Zs,
Bijou sketched for me,
Perky pokeleafs peeking . . .

On the ninth day of 3Zs,
Bijou tied for me
Tangled auraknot-ings . . .

On the tenth day of 3Zs,
Bijou sketched for me,
Not so boring drawings . . .

On the eleventh day of 3Zs,
Bijou gave to me,
Wandering icanthis . . .

On the 12th day of 3Zs,
Bijou showed to me,
huggins hugging huggins . . .

Here is my mosaic showing all 12 days.

Happy Christmas and A Merry New Year to you all!

12 Days of 3Zs

Greetings Fellow Tanglers!

I am working on the 12 days of 3zs challenge that Zentangle HQ is doing this holiday season and wanted to share my first 5 days. So here it goes…

On the first day of 3Zs
Bijou gave to me
A tile full of tripoli.

On the second day of 3Zs
Bijou drew for me
A fetching diva dancing . . .

On the third day of 3Zs
Bijou gifted me
some winsome bits of shattuck . . .

On the fourth day of 3Zs
Bijou tangled me
Some marasu encircling . . .

On the fifth day of 3Zs
Bijou wrapped for me
Gold, glowing tipples . . .

I used and idea from SandyKJCZT, that I saw on the mosaics app, where I can be found at #1ArtLadyKateCZT9 to put them together like this…

Weekly challenge #296

It’s a use my tangle week over at i am the diva and we are using Anya Ipsen’s, Moowa.  This one was a new one to me, but struggling with Mooka, I knew that this one wasn’t going to be an easy one. I still have some work to do with it, but here’s my first attempt.

I also am trying my best to keep up with the 12 days of 3zs challenges from Zentangle HQ. I finally picked up the mosaic app, so for those of you on it you can find me at #1ArtLadyKateCXT9. Still working on figuring out how to run it in all but the most basic way, but that too will come. Here is my take on Day 3, some winsome bits of Shattuck…
I am patiently/impatiently waiting for my tiles to arrive but in the meantime have been cutting down the regular tiles to fit.

Weekly Challenge #295

Greetings Fellow Tanglers!

It is a continuation of Reticula and Fragments over at i am the diva this week. Here is my fragment and finished tile. I used a spray of a couple of different colors of liquid watercolors for the color on this one.

Cris Letoureau, kindly put a pattern on her blog for a wonderful star, that of course I had to try out. I didn’t do the fragment version, but will try that one later, but I just had to do at least one. I think that I will have to make a bunch more of these lovelies! I’m thinking they will be my package adornments this year.

Finally, here is my November Tanglelendar. Stephanie, at Everything is Art, has these on her blog and I have been having fun with them. This one I did print out on some older light gray cardstock that I had around, but I found that shading on the laid paper was anything but fun…. I won’t be doing that again. I also had a chance to try out some of the new tangles released from Zentangle Headquarters. See your nearest CZT if you want to learn how to do them.

Weekly Challenge #294

Greetings Fellow Tanglers!

Short and sweet this week. I will post more if I have the time later, but a busy week ahead, so for now, the challenge this week from the diva is to use fragments and reticula. Here is my fragment and the reticula using the fragment.

I also played around a little bit more with Keeko, from last weeks challenge.

I would like to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving!

Weekly Challenge #293

Greetings Fellow Tanglers!

The challenge over at the diva is Keeko this week. I used it very simply for my first one to create a frame. With Thanksgiving coming up next week I wanted to remember to give thanks for all the support that you have shown me over the past couple of years both for my art, and for me as I have struggled with my new reality with Hubby. I am truly blessed to have this supportive group of fellow tanglers to help me out on my journey. Thank You!

As for the second, just some more playing around. Keeko wrapped in a spiral with the morph from Keeko to Nekton, for the background.

IAST #170

Happy Friday!

I had a little extra time this week and decided to tackle It’s a String Thing. It was a simplicity theme. The string was nice and simple, and only two tangles. Oke, by Michele Beauchamp, and Jelly Legs, by Amber Davis. Here is what I came up with. Didn’t turn out to be that simple of a tile, but I had fun with it. Still in that fall mood, so added a bit of pastel to this one.

Weekly Challenge #292

It’s use my tangle week over at i am the diva and we are using EAXY, a tangle by Nadine Roller, CZT. I had started this Renaissance tile that I had sprayed with a couple of colors of liquid watercolors, with the beginnings of Gourdeous, so decided that I would finish that out, and use EAXY as the background. I didn’t find this an easy tangle to keep even, so decided to embrace the going with the flow, and just let it change scale as it wanted to. My chop even fits in this one and almost becomes part of the pattern. I am still in my fall kick, so added a bit of color pencil to brighten it up here and there. I think that is is going to become a card for Thanksgiving for my Hubby.

Weekly Challenge #291

Greetings Fellow Tanglers!

I hope that you all had a great Halloween. The challenge this week from the diva was a Halloween theme tile. This one gave me fits, but I am posting it anyway. Didn’t have my normal watercolors around, so used some old ones at school for this tile. The moon started out white and I added the crescent moon to it using a gray marker and a metallic Gelly roll pen. Then decided that I wanted to add some yellow to it…. Big mistake! Started with a Tombow marker which started to smear the marker and pen. Stopped having done just an edge of the moon. So on to plan B. Use the watercolors to watercolor over the moon… smeared everything more. Quick rinse it under running water, which washed off all the smears and faded the crescent moon, but salvaged the tile. Add the yellow with colored pencil. Done for this week at least. Not quite what I was planning, but so it goes.

Tangles used, Crescent Moon and Widgets

I also decided this month to do one of Stephanie@Everything is Art, tanglelendar. You can find her calendar pages here. I had fun with this, and my kids at work liked watching how it came along during the month.

 Happy Hump Day!

Weekly Challenge #290

Greetings Fellow Tanglers!

The challenge this week from the diva is a duo tangle using NZeppel and Flux. I used a modified version of Rick’s Flux, on a background of NZeppel. Here is my little seasonal  Zia for the week.

I also had some time last weekend to go out and see some of the glorious fall foliage that Minnesota is gifting us with this year. Here are a few photos for you to enjoy!

I couldn’t stop playing around with last week’s challenge of Leafy Goodness, so here are two more tiles along with my original from last week. I printed leaves on all of them, as the start, and tangled around them. I had computer issues last week, so my post was from Pinterest, as my iPad was the only thing that seemed to be working.

Weekly Challenge #288

Greetings Fellow Tanglers!

Happy Hump Day!

This week’s challenge over at i am the diva, is “Simply Gourdeous”, an ode to the fall season. I have parent teacher conferences this week, (I know, Already!), so this is going to be a short post. Here is my ATC size tile featuring the tangle Gourdgeous and a little Sampson thrown in.

Weekly Challenge #287

Greetings Fellow Tanglers!

The challenge this week from the diva, is a UMT (use my tangle) challenge using Daniel Lamothe’s tangle Dreamcatcher. I think that last week’s straight line challenge rubbed off on me as my Dreamcatcher ATC this week is a very straight line one.

Had to throw some more curves into the mix too.

Weekly Challenge #286

Greeting Fellow Tanglers!

The challenge over at i am the diva this week is Straight to It!

Straight lines for everything, or at least as straight as I can make them! I started out with a string that used my initials. I found that I really really had to concentrate on those straight lines, so it wasn’t a zen for me as it could have been. In the first tile I used IX, Nexton, and Paradox. I found that there was not as much contrast as I would have liked so I used some shading to hopefully help with that.

On my second tile, I again used my initials for the string and for tangles used a straight line version of Piza, Palreva, Phroz, Shattuck, Knase and Braze.

Finally, I had had enough of the straight lines and decided to throw some curves into an artist trading card.

The Diva and her Niece also had a fine time at Paint Nite. I had to include my photo from the night my friend Stacy and I went to Paint Nite, here in Minnesota. Same subject, different color palette.
